It's rare to see people sleeping in cardboard boxes but...
Homelessness is real in our community.
Homeless people who sit at street corners with a cardboard sign asking for spare change are a minority. 
The real problem is often unnoticed.
Too many people live without somewhere to call home.
An alarming amount of homeless people in Wayne County are
under the age of 18 and are attending our schools.
Why gather around such a serious issue and have fun?
We expect our Cardboard City participants to “do the work” prior to the event- raise much needed funds and 
raise awareness.  Cardboard City is held in celebration of that wonderful work! Also, the event itself offers 
participants further information, experiences, and reflections throughout the night.  It is our hope that our community will walk away from this event asking “What next? What can I further do to help?”

The Event will feature live music and guest speakers, all in an environment designed to raise awareness of the problem of homelessness.
It is also a celebration of the hard work our Cardboard Citizens have done to raise funds and awareness to directly help the homeless in Wayne County.
