Medicinal Plants of the Carolinas

Dr. A.J. Bullard, a retired dentist who writes the column “Botany with Bullard” in the Mount Olive Messenger and is particularly knowledgeable of the woody flora of eastern North Carolina, will talk about medicinal plants.  This program is one of the Wayne County Reads events related to the Rudolfo Anaya’s novel Bless Me, Ultima.  Ultima drew upon centuries of knowledge about her landscape to heal and care for Antonio’s family in the book.  Join us to learn about herbs and plants you can find nearby that have healing properties that might surprise you. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Cynthia Hughes at 919-658-4916 or chughes@moc.edu.
